To mark its 40th anniversary, Kraftwerk’s pioneering Radio-Activity album has been revisited and reimagined by a stellar Anglo-French trio: our own Matthew Bourne along with composer Franck Vigroux and artist Antoine Schmitt.
Drawing on their diverse backgrounds in jazz and improvisation, electronic composition and visual installation, Bourne, Vigroux and Schmitt’s Radioland project turns the original album inside out, using analogue synths and electronics intensified by some striking live video work.
This brand new live experience promises to transport the listener into a futuristic audiovisual world, imagined by Kraftwerk in 1975 and reconstructed in this bold new manifestation for 2015.
This footage from early rehearsals of Radioland speaks for itself:
